Now that the holidays are over, it is time for technophiles from all over the world to dust off their advent calendars and start counting down to the real celebrations: the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show! We are practically bursting with anticipation around here, and from what we’ve heard so far, this year’s CES promises to deliver in some big and exciting ways.

Based on the new categories added to the 2014 Innovation Award honorees, we have a feeling wearable tech is going to make a real splash this year as more and more people are looking for cool ways to live a seamlessly connected life. The inaugural honoree in the new Wearable Technologies is Instabeat by Instabeat, the first waterproof monitor that tracks, stores, and even displays instant color-coded feedback on to your goggles’ lenses while you’re swimming. This is the kind of thing that makes us long for warm summer days at the pool!

Another new category this year is 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing, and the Form 1 from Formlabs looks to be setting the gold-standard in making high-quality 3D printing more accessible. We could – and do! – spend hours daydreaming about all the amazing things we would make if we had one of these printers.

The last new Innovation Awards category added this year is the In-Vehicle Experience, and we can’t wait to get our hands on the AppRadio 3 from Pioneer Electronics. This little beauty has a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming plus Siri Eyes Free and Google Voice, so you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Safety first!

This is just a small sampling of what will be served up at the 2014 CES, and we wouldn’t miss it for the world. We will be posting all about our CES adventures right here, and if you happen to be in the area, make sure to stop by and say hi to us at booth 31689 (South Hall).
