How It Works

Signal boosters increase cell signal by collecting signals with a powerful antenna, delivering those signals to the booster, amplifying the cell signals so your devices receive them, and delivering your device's boosted signals back to the cell tower.

1

Receives
Signal

The outside antenna reaches out to the cell tower to access voice and data signals.

2

Transmits
Signal

The booster receives the outside signal from the outside antenna.

3

Boosts
Signal

The booster amplifies the outside signal up to and sends it to the inside antenna.

4

Expands
Signal

The inside antenna broadcasts the boosted signal inside the vehicle.

Question: Does the booster work with Canadian carriers, too. As I have a Drive 4G-M and it drops calls all the time, or I have to be directly under the cell tower antenna, to get a strong signal.

Answer: Thank you for your question! Yes, this booster will work for canadian carriers as well since 3G and 4G signals are used in the same frequencies as the US. This booster will not be able to use 4G since it's a 3G booster but will work better in lower signal areas on 3G since it has a little more power as far as pulling signal in. You don't have to be directly under the tower to receive signal, but you may need to have your phone closer to the inside antenna for it to work properly in lower signal areas. If there's any other questions that need to be addressed, please give us a call at 866-294-1660 or contact our online support at: [email protected] Thank you!

Question: It says 3G, Is it good for 4G Smart Phone Apple AT&T ?

Answer: Thank you for your question. The Drive 3G-X will still provide voice boost for your Smart Phone through AT&T, as long as they are not using VOLTE. You will not notice any improvement on data, at any point your phone is using 4G for data coverage.

Question: I plan on using this in my RV in the remote desert in SoCal. I use sprint and only receive 1 bar with no internet capability. I am hoping to be able to stream netflix. Has anybody specifically tried this in that location and will it work for what I want?

Answer: Thank you for reaching out to us! We don't have exact experiences in that area, but we have had reports of areas similar to your situation as far as signal is concerned. There are some limitations to the Sprint 4G/LTE coverage, and we'd like to work with you directly to make sure we make the best recommendation. Question: I have an off-grid cabin that receives a weak cell signal (2 bars). I am looking for a signal booster that is battery powered. Does anything like that exist?

Answer: Its powered through a power adapter that goes into the 12V power socket of your car. So, if you have a 12V battery, you can hook up one of these sockets (available at car part shop or DYI shop) and connect your booster to your 12V battery. Should work for as long as the battery has enough juice.

Answer: Thank you for your question. We do not have any boosters right now that are battery powered. We do have people who will use our products in an "off-grid" situation. If you would like some more information on that feel free to reach out to us here: http://support.weboost.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Question: Thank you for your prompt answer. I haven't bought a product, so shouldn't use the support link. I was hoping for a technical answer. Does 3G-X have greater transmit power, "reach"? Does it have a greater sensitivity receiver? Higher gain antenna?

Answer: I found the detailed specifications buried within the Install Guides. Looks like much better receive sensitivity and transmit power. Thanks.

Question: What is the difference between this and the 3G-M? Both are Band 2,5 with Max Gain of 50 dB. I see that the 3G-X draws 39.6W (only 15W for 3G-M), but can you explain this difference versus the similar 50dB Gain spec?

Answer: The Drive 3G-X unit carries the same amount of gain as our Drive 3G-M (50 dB), but will provide a greatly improved reach to cell towers than any of our other mobile boosters and will be a great fit for rural traveling. The difference is made in the output power. If you will be traveling in these rural areas frequently, where other boosters may typically struggle to get signal, then the Drive 3G-X is our best recommendation.
